Create and decorative : the very best country craft

Title : Create And Decorative
Publisher : All American Craft, inc.
Review By: Flora Fung
Living artfully

The cover of this month’s Create and Decorate magazine proclaims: “Oodles of ornaments to paint and stitch!” And: “78 of our merriest creations!”

This magazine is for you if you like cute and whimsical handiwork. They do not look particularly hard to make, though a few of the materials used may not be obtainable here. However, with the creativity that we crafters have, I am sure we all can find substitutes. You can also create lovely and useful things out of household objects that you might normally throw away, such as burnt out bulbs (paint them to make colourful ornaments), and bottles (embellish them with scrap supplies, decorate them and fill them with fun treats such as candies, or cocoa powder.)

Other patterns that caught my eyes as I flipped through this issue are the beautifully painted boxes with game boards brushed on inside, painted holiday bowl and eggs, sheep and lamb pillow, and lovely sewn and painted ornaments.

From January 2009 onwards, members of SabahState Library will be allowed to borrow a wide range of magazines. This series of magazine reviews will highlight a few of the titles that you can take home to read. For a complete list, please visit www.ssl.sabah.gov.my.

Got a magazine to recommend that we order? Please e-mail me at flora.fung@sabah.gov.my. If it is suitable for the library, we’ll do our best to get it
